"If Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, and Phoebe Bridgers had a baby," that baby would be Abigayle Kompst. Hailing from the city of neon lights, showgirls, and gambling machines, the indie-folk singer/songwriter moved to Nashville in 2018. Now a Belmont University Songwriting grad, Abigayle's songwriting has brought her to numerous stages including ASCAP Writers Night (2022), the Grammy U Songwriter Showcase (2021), Nashville's famous 3rd and Lindsley, The Listening Room, and more.
Abigayle’s career took its biggest ever step forward in 2022 when she released her debut EP, Vegas. Complete with four singles, “We Found Heaven,” “Vegas,” “Making All This Up,” and “i blame the tv,” Vegas tells a handful of stories about Abigayle’s upbringing in Sin City, how she processes her relationships and adult life through that lens. Vegas is available to stream now on all musical platforms.
Her musical ventures also extend to custom songwriting. She is proud to be a partner of Songfinch, a company that connects songwriters with customers who want to commemorate special events with personalized songs.
In 2022, she was brought in to write and co-produce five original songs for feature film “Love is Life” directed by Jon Lee. Abigayle is also the 2nd place winner of the Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest (2023), a top 20 finalist for the Rocky Mountain Songwriter Showcase (2023), a recipient of the Best Classical Guitar Duo in CCSD Award (2017), Student Downbeat Award for Best Jazz Vocals (2018), and the Songs for Social Change Award (2019). When not writing, practicing, or playing a show, you can find Abigayle hiking the hills of beautiful Tennessee.
